Fractures

Ethos Health physiotherapists can treat simple fractures; we receive regular referrals from general practitioners, medical specialists and emergency departments to provide braces, splints and moon boots or fit a range of casts for fractures of the wrist, hand and ankle.
Our casts are made of a lightweight coloured polyester resin outer shell (you can choose your colour!) with a waterproof liner. This means you can swim and wash without needing to keep your cast dry, and helps prevent odour and itching.
We also remove and repair casts, with all necessary equipment on site at both our practice locations.
Do you need a brace, cast or cast removal?

Neck, Back and SIJ Pain

Up to 80% of Australians will experience back pain at some point in their lives, while it’s been estimated that around 15% of the population experiences neck pain in the course of a year. In our experience the statistics would be no different in the Newcastle and Lake Macquarie regions.
So what does this mean?
It means back and neck pain is common, we see a lot of it and Ethos Health physiotherapists can help you achieve lasting relief from your symptoms. No matter the problem, we will take the time to explain what is happening, why it has developed and how we as a partnership can treat it. We combine this with hands-on and exercise based treatment to get the results you want.

Pre and Post Op

Many spinal, shoulder, hip, knee and ankle operations require pre and post-operative physiotherapy to achieve a good outcome from surgery. Repairing a damaged bone, ligament or tendon is often only part of the problem, and people need physiotherapy to recover the strength and mobility needed to resume their preferred activities.
In the pre-operative phase, physiotherapy treatment will help you be as strong, mobile and pain-free as possible. This typically means less post-operative pain and an accelerated recovery. Some surgeons insist their patients achieve specific pre-operative strength or movement outcomes in order to maximise the chance of successful surgery.
In the post-operative phase, many surgeons have specific rehabilitation protocols that they prefer their patients to follow under the guidance of a physiotherapist. Over the last 10 years Ethos Health physiotherapists have assisted thousands of patients prepare for and recover from surgeries like Total Knee Replacement, Total Hip replacement, knee reconstruction, shoulder reconstruction, patella stabilisation, rotator cuff repair and Achilles tendon repair. In the small percentage of cases where recovery isn’t proceeding as planned, our experience allows us to recognise the early warning signs and arrange rapid follow up with your GP or treating specialist.
